Lions Sign Division I Transfer

UAFS men’s basketball coach Josh Newman added more depth at guard to next season’s roster with the recent signing of Dijon Farr, a 6-foot-7 transfer from NCAA Division I University of Utah.
Farr, who is from Pacolet, S.C., will be a senior next season with one year of eligibility remaining.
“Dijon is a big guard that will score in a variety of ways. He will thrive in our up-tempo system with his length and athleticism,” Newman said. “We are excited about the maturity and experience he will bring as well.”
Farr started 24 of the Utes’ 31 games this past season and averaged 26 minutes per game. He averaged 6.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range and 47 percent from the field.
He led the Utes in rebounding eight times and in scoring three times. He scored in double figures eight times and scored a season-high 16 points twice – against Idaho State and Oregon State.
Prior to his one season at Utah, Farr played two seasons at Indian Hills Community College.
As a sophomore, he was First Team All-Region II and helped lead the Warriors to a 23-10 overall record and a tie for the regular-season conference championship. He led the Warriors in scoring with 9.6 points per game and was second in rebounding with 5.4 rebounds per game. He led the team in steals (54) and blocked shots (29).
As a freshman, he was named Second Team All-Conference after leading the team with 11.9 points per game. He was second in rebounding with 4.2 rebounds per game and 3-pointers made with 44. He started all 33 games on a team that finished 25-8 and won the outright conference championship.
Farr is a 2009 graduate of Broome High School. He was named All-Conference as a senior after leading Broome in scoring and rebounding. He was a two-sport star and was highly recruited as a wide receiver and defensive back, leading the state in interceptions twice with 11 interceptions as a senior and nine as a junior.
